How E-Scooter Speedometers Work
Unlike petrol scooter speedometers that use a mechanical cable drive, electric scooters determine speed electronically. The motor controller or wheel speed sensor sends pulses to the display unit, which calculates and shows the current speed. - DIY Sensor Replacement: Hall effect speed sensors are inexpensive (Rs. 100 - Rs. 300) and can be replaced with basic soldering skills.
Verifying E-Scooter Speed Accuracy
Many e-scooter speedometers deliberately show a higher speed than the actual value to comply with local regulations or to make the scooter feel faster.
