Omni Speedometer by Generation
First Generation (1980s to 1990s)

Common Speedometer Problems
- Speedometer Not Working (Cable Models): The most common issue. The cable snaps or the inner wire strips at the drive end. Cable replacement costs Rs. 150 to Rs. 300 for genuine Maruti parts.

Speedometer Cable Replacement

Speed Sensor Replacement (Electronic Models)
For later Omni models with electronic speedometers:
- Locate the speed sensor on the gearbox housing, typically near the differential or on top of the gearbox.
- Disconnect the electrical connector and remove the sensor mounting bolt.
- Pull the sensor out. Some fluid may leak from the gearbox - keep a rag handy.
- Install the new sensor, tighten the bolt, and reconnect the wiring.
- Test by driving - the speedometer should work immediately.
Instrument Cluster Repair and Replacement
If the entire cluster needs attention:
